A Wedding, islands cruise & 2010 IRB Borneo Sevens Rugby Tourney!

This month is going to be pretty exciting and eventful for me. First, there was the UMS Convocation & Tamu Gadang (which had left me exhausted!) and now, I'd be closing my October calendar with a much lighter and happier mode. Yep, I've got spring on my steps! Why so? I'll tell you why :)

Well, tomorrow's gonna be my last working day for the month. I have applied for my leave this Friday and yes, I am so looking forward for the weekend :)  My bestest friend is coming down to town from KL for the 2010 IRB Borneo Sevens rugby tourney (we are crazy about rugby!) on the 29th-31st of October. In between, we will be squeezing in a mini vacation, consisting of islands cruise excursion. According to the tailored package, we'll be cruising and stopping over to Sapi, Mamutik, Sulug, Manukan & Gaya Islands. Lordy, when my friend emailed me the itinerary, I was, WOW! It's heaven, paradise (that's my cuzzie's tagline actually) I can't even recall when was the last time I've ever been to one. Was it in 2007? 2008? Hmmm..my memory is starting to fail me, scary that. Ah-ha, I need a new pair of bikini. I can't remember where did I store the old ones! Islands, here I coooomee... :)

On the other hand, one of my former course mate during my uni days is getting married! Blessing ceremony is tomorrow but since it's weekday and I'm working, I have to miss  that one out. However, I will be attending the wedding reception, which is going to be held this Saturday at Penampang Cultural Centre (to which I don't know where that is). Gosh, I don't know what wedding presents shall I give to the bride and groom. You see, I'm so bad when it comes to buying gifts! The only thing that I can think of is to give them 'ang pow'. I did google for wedding gifts idea and apparently, money is acceptable. Adoi..I need some pointer here..

...but of course, I'm much more excited with the rugby tourney! Last year, I also attended the same with my best friend and I had such a blast!  The anticipation, the screams, the adrenaline rush: those are the essential potion that makes me hooked into rugby! Ahem, those buff and the charging testosterones running around the field are of course an extra bonus! Ahem! Hehehe... For his year, I'm hoping that our local rugby clubs will make it to the final and win! To Sabah Eagles & Borneo Eagles and other Malaysian teams,  I wish you guys good luck! Oh, some quick facts about this tourney:

Date: 29-31st October (8.00am - 5.00pm)
Venue: Likas Sports Stadium, Kota Kinabalu
Entry: FREE!
Participating countries: unions from Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Guam, Singapore and Sri Lanka
Women's rugby team will be kick-starting the game on the 29th. Expected women's rugby team (unions around Asia Pacific) will be 8 teams all together!

So, rugby fans around the city, do come and cheer for your favourite teams!

Whew..a wedding, islands cruise and rugby tourney: what a great way to end my October calendar. I, for one is planning to have a friggin' blast!

12th UMS Convo 2010 - Days In Pictures

It was held from 9th-11th October 2010 at the Chancellor's Hall, UMS. I was one of the officers on duty (usherette) and gosh, it was such a tiring day.  So, during the last day of the event, we revenged and took loads of  'em to compensate for our tiredness! However, most of the pictures were taken after the event ended. Well, we couldn't take pictures while on duty..

Love this picture. The photographer asked  me to act up the as a lovelorn girl.. LOL

Play-acting with my colleague, Radie.."geezzz, they  aren't roses'!

Final day saw me barefooted and beaten up! It was that tiring..

Finally...legs tortures ended! Heading towards the Tamu Gadang..

on a side note, I met Chegu Carol yesterday (final day of the Convo). Although it's only a brief moment but I was glad. Congrats to her brother, whom recently graduated! :)

*hugs*

Korean Movie: 3-Iron

Warning: Content not suitable for minors!

Movies that are slightly weird and one of a kind always fascinate me. Even if the movie itself kinda makes me rack my brain up in order for me to fully grasp its meaning or it delves on confusing metaphors, I'd still watch it. Weird movie stimulates my brain and at the same time gives me something to chew on, long after the movie ends. These days, I seldom buying myself DVDs. Instead, I trawl the net or any other movie streaming sites that I could readily find in the net.

As such, I found one of the 'just my taste' movie. No other than one of the South Korean's finest Director, Kim Ki-duk's. This 2004 award winning movie, Binjip (Empty House, alternate title 3-Iron) had won several prizes and special director's award during the 2004 Venice Film Festival. I was blown away! Why? Simply because the male protagonist literally didn't utter a single word of dialogues throughout the entire movie but his facial expressions and body languages were enough to make this movie an intriguing watch! I am not going to write a review of this film. For review and synopsis, you may read them here.

So, enjoy the movie.. oh yeah, the OST was ahh-mazing too. It featured Belgian-Arab singer,  Natacha Atlas' Gafsa.

The Death of Chivalry

This has been nagging me for quite some times now. I am debating with myself about the rational of making this entry.  Will Sabahans hate me after this and form an 'Anti-WanderingSumandak' page in Facebook? Or will I get pros and cons responses? Either way, I still want to blog about this.

8-letters-word, C.O.U.R.T.E.S.Y!

Yes, I am talking about the basic of social ethics, the lack of courtesy among the public, about those who are commuting via public transportations in KK City. In fact, my cousin also voiced out her disappointment about this issue. As a newly-returned KKian, I still haven't got the time for getting myself a driving licence.  Hence, I take buses every day to work. My office is about 15 or 25 minutes drive from the heart of the city.  Mind you, this is when the traffic flow is smooth.  If it's jammed up then I think it probably takes you about half and hour or even an hour to reach my office and vice versa.  From my personal experience and observation, some commuters are still lacking of courtesy. Which courtesy am I talking about? I'm talking about giving up your seat to the elderly, pregnant ladies, disabled or even ladies.  I notice at times that male passengers will steadfastly glue their butts on the seats, rather than giving them up.

Once, this old makcik was standing and nobody offered his/her seat.  If I was seated, I'd give up my seat willingly and let the makcik sits down but alas, I too was standing up. I'm not saying that I'm a good example of a goody two-shoes  but imagine when you see a young and healthy man and he just sits there rolling his eyes upward to the vehicle's roof, picking his finger nails, or even turns his face up 25degrees towards the window while an elderly is having a difficult time to stable himself/herself everytime the vehicle lurches forward without warning! I saw this several times now. I am not saying that  all male commuters in KK are ill- mannered. I believe that it's only an isolated cases but still, these questions keep on nagging me.

IS THIS THE DEMISED OF CHIVALRY AMONG MEN IN SABAH?
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MORAL LESSONS IN SCHOOL?
ARE WE TOO SELF-CENTERED THAT EVEN THIS SIMPLE GESTURE IS FORGOTTEN?

Having said that, I believe that not all male commuters in KK are lack of courtesy.  I did come across with some, who, actually gave up their seats willingly. So, don't worry. We're not being the rudest city in the planet.  One thing that I noticed is, most of the public transportations in the city are not practicing the 'being a considerate passenger' policy, as seen and practised on public transportations in KL. There are no active campaigns being carried out and not even a single sticker promoting 'courteousness'  amongst commuters. I have yet to see a section being allocated for disabled, pregnant ladies and elderly inside any of the City Buses. Do correct me if I'm wrong. I do feel that the DBKK and the Ministry of Public Transportation in Sabah could come up with campaigns, promoting this practice among the public. All public transportations' management could also be encouraged to enforce this policy, with endorsement from those two organizations of course.

Should and when this policy be enforced, I believe that it will somewhat  triggers people to notice and start feeling ashamed of their blatant 'don't care' attitude.  This might be a trivial matters to others but sometimes, the impact of a small or insignificant mistake can sometimes leads to a full-blown disaster. After all, we certainly do not want to project such image of being 'the rudest bunch' in the world to other people, especially to visitors/tourists, right?

So, DBKK and Ministry of Public Transportation (Sabah), what are you going to do about this?

Goodness ol' me, too ancient for internet chatting games?

????  and why would someone complaints about the contents of this post???!  It's not a sexual post at all. Come on people, if you can't stomach this up, then please, you are more than welcome to make a 'grand exit'. I'm talking about the reality of the danger and downside of the internet chat webs. There are predators lurking around in the web chats, waiting to pounce on unsuspecting, gullible victims. I'm sorry but I'm not going to edit this post and I'm not going to subject myself to the whims and demands of other people. If you find this offensive, then kindly refrain from reading this blog. thank you..

My cousin is crazy about the internet chatting games! 2 weeks ago, I stayed with her for a good 3 whole days and suffice to say, she'd be 'tenet-ing' away, chatting+webcaming, giggling and swearing at the same time.  Being a curious creature that I am, I couldn't resist of jadi penyibuk. I glanced to her monitor, and WOW! She had quite a handful of opened chat windows. Amazing how she could manage to juggle them. Them being all men = the gatal ones, the lonely ones, the mild-mannered ones, the puberscent-stricken ones, everything under the skies! I think the last time I was struck with this internet-chatting phenomenon was when I was about 20 years old, during my uni days to be exact!

So, spurred by my cousin, I did try entering a 'certain' chat rooms and boy, did I not feel like ancient! 5 minutes into the chat room, this blacksabbath18 chatter buzzed me. Seconds later, kampungboy20 followed suit. 10 minutes later, there was this abangsayang25 wanting to finger me up while batangtegak89 wanted to squeeze my boobs! (oh dear!) *roll eyes*  Half an hour passed, most of the chatters were either 18 or 26 years old. I certainly felt like dear ol' Merlin! In the end, I exited the chat room.

From my side, I heard my cousin exclaiming a disgusted sounds. Someone was webcaming his nude-self, showing his engorged private parts gleefully and he didn't even attempt to conceal his face. My cousin typed something like 'sial ko', hit the enter button, then closed the chatter's window. Tsk..tsk..gatal men sure love them internet chat rooms.

As for me, nahhh...I'll pass.

Malaysia's 53rd Independence Day..

I am feeling patriotic today...

I am truly blessed for being born a Malaysian. Peaceful country, no apparent political unrest and above all I am glad that I was born a SABAHAN, the beautiful state, beautiful culture and beautiful people :)

so, here goes my MERDEKA SHOUT to all Malaysians:

"Selamat menyambut Hari Merdeka yang ke-53. May our country be peaceful and prosperous forever. God bless Malaysians!"

Okay, on the side note, I am going for breakfast at Lido (Ngiu Chap!) shortly and continue with a picnic excursion with my sisters, cousin and bro-in-law in Moyog River Dam, Penampang. This being a Merdeka cuti, so I better spend my cuti wisely. Not just 'bikin tahi mata' at home. Doncha think so?

Til next post.. XOXO...

The Long Absence..

For 6 years.. I haven't been writing anything.  The last entry that I posted was in October 2016! Damn! That feels like a century ago.....
