Lost & Gain

This month, there are 3 exciting things happening. Simultaneously.

However, I can't bend and jump the time continuum. It's pretty much a lost & gain loophole for me.

Firstly, on Sept 24th 2011, there'll be the Hennessy Artistry "The Global Art of Mixing" event in Kota Kinabalu, which is going to be held at WhiteRoom, KK Times Square. Yep, it's a big fat party time.  If you're in my "blog recruits' realm, you'd remember that I blogged about its previous party (2010). I attended the same, even wrote a post-party review. For this year, I'm of course once again invited, with a guaranteed VIP passes for two. Sadly, I won't be able to make it this year as I'll be out of the country.

So, KK folks, sounds grand right?  For more info, go to H-Artistry Global Art of Mixing 2011. Have a blast, guys! :)

Secondly, there's the Asian Rugby Football Union - HSBC 7 Series & Women Asia Pacific Sevens! Yes, rugby. My favorite game, besides soccer. I'm crying a river now, seriously! This tourney is going to be held from Sept 24th - 25th 2011 at Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Admission is free. Games are starting from 08.30hrs - 17.30hrs.

For more info, visit  HSBC ARFU 7 SERIES Good luck to all teams competing!

Thirdly, on Sept 22nd - 25th, I'm off to Manila, Philippines! This, I don't have to elaborate. Never been there before. But, I'm sure that it's gonna be interesting!

Party & rugby : Au revoir :(
Manila : Mabuhay & magandang araw :)

Merry Goes Round in Shamrock Bar, KK Waterfront

Last Friday, I went to Shamrock Bar, KK Waterfront for the Merry Goes Round in March (St. Patrick's Day) with some friends and my cousin.  Because I work quite a distance from my house and also caught up in a bad jammed, it was quite late when I finally reached the party.  By then, it had already wind down but  we did manage to watch several performances (a group of dancers dancing to the tune of Lady Gaga, a band performing some kind of an Irish tune & also Shamrock's own pop band). Then, the drizzling rain came, forcing us to take cover and eventually left the place. I saw clowns in stilts crutches, trying to engage the crowd with animal shape balloons trick, girls promoter and Guinness pints totting people.

Some pictures from the party:

and that's Lady Gaga for you..

My hot cousin.. :)

Group pictures with the girls and me making a proposal: Merry Me?

..and where did we go after that? Nowhere in particular, we just drove around the city and ended up taking vain pictures of ourselves at Signal Hill Observatory Platform KK. It was cooler and a bit windy up there during the night, especially when it just stopped raining. From the platform, you could see the winking lights and aerial view of the city at night. You could even spot the lights from the distant Gaya Island. However, it wasn't  a clear night and our camera is not sooo hi-def! Hence, the city view is barely visible in the background..

Now, for the extremely vain sets of photographs:

I think, CC was trying  her best to do the Mak Yong dance perhaps?

yessir, please take many many more vain photographs of us!

Benches are also provided

Ah, I was merely trying to model my skulls printed dress! ;-)

Yep, me - the narcissist!

..aaaand, that's all folks!
ciao..

Gaya Street Christmas Carnival: 14th-17th Dec 2010

OK, I know..I mentioned in my previous entry that I'd be 'stripping naked' my handbag but I feel that this is something that I am pleased to share with Christians in Sabah or KK people in general. I visited the Sabah Tourism website and I am really happy that a Christmas Carnival in Gaya Street, KK is included in the December event!

Quoting the website:

Over 170 charity and hawker stalls will be erected along the street, making it an ideal venue to scout for a wide selection of items such as food, inexpensive gifts, festive decorations and handicrafts. A Wedding, islands cruise & 2010 IRB Borneo Sevens Rugby Tourney!

This month is going to be pretty exciting and eventful for me. First, there was the UMS Convocation & Tamu Gadang (which had left me exhausted!) and now, I'd be closing my October calendar with a much lighter and happier mode. Yep, I've got spring on my steps! Why so? I'll tell you why :)

Well, tomorrow's gonna be my last working day for the month. I have applied for my leave this Friday and yes, I am so looking forward for the weekend :)  My bestest friend is coming down to town from KL for the 2010 IRB Borneo Sevens rugby tourney (we are crazy about rugby!) on the 29th-31st of October. In between, we will be squeezing in a mini vacation, consisting of islands cruise excursion. According to the tailored package, we'll be cruising and stopping over to Sapi, Mamutik, Sulug, Manukan & Gaya Islands. Lordy, when my friend emailed me the itinerary, I was, WOW! It's heaven, paradise (that's my cuzzie's tagline actually) I can't even recall when was the last time I've ever been to one. Was it in 2007? 2008? Hmmm..my memory is starting to fail me, scary that. Ah-ha, I need a new pair of bikini. I can't remember where did I store the old ones! Islands, here I coooomee... :)

On the other hand, one of my former course mate during my uni days is getting married! Blessing ceremony is tomorrow but since it's weekday and I'm working, I have to miss  that one out. However, I will be attending the wedding reception, which is going to be held this Saturday at Penampang Cultural Centre (to which I don't know where that is). Gosh, I don't know what wedding presents shall I give to the bride and groom. You see, I'm so bad when it comes to buying gifts! The only thing that I can think of is to give them 'ang pow'. I did google for wedding gifts idea and apparently, money is acceptable. Adoi..I need some pointer here..

...but of course, I'm much more excited with the rugby tourney! Last year, I also attended the same with my best friend and I had such a blast!  The anticipation, the screams, the adrenaline rush: those are the essential potion that makes me hooked into rugby! Ahem, those buff and the charging testosterones running around the field are of course an extra bonus! Ahem! Hehehe... For his year, I'm hoping that our local rugby clubs will make it to the final and win! To Sabah Eagles & Borneo Eagles and other Malaysian teams,  I wish you guys good luck! Oh, some quick facts about this tourney:

Date: 29-31st October (8.00am - 5.00pm)
Venue: Likas Sports Stadium, Kota Kinabalu
Entry: FREE!
Participating countries: unions from Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Guam, Singapore and Sri Lanka
Women's rugby team will be kick-starting the game on the 29th. Expected women's rugby team (unions around Asia Pacific) will be 8 teams all together!

So, rugby fans around the city, do come and cheer for your favourite teams!

Whew..a wedding, islands cruise and rugby tourney: what a great way to end my October calendar. I, for one is planning to have a friggin' blast!

Post-event Review: Hennessy Artistry - The Global Art of Mixing, White Room KK Times Square

A'ight, the deadline for the review is drawing nearer! So, here goes:

I had the privilege of being invited to this event on the 31st July 2010, and..I've gotta say thank you to Helleness Chong and Jason Kong! Also, of course a big thanks to Hennessy Artistry!

Well, being warned beforehand to come early for registration (to avoid the massive human traffic) myself and cousin, Dena (she was my guest for that night)  arrived at the venue around 9.30pm.  Upon registration, we (and another group of hot ladies, presumably fellow bloggers) were ushered around by Sukie Ng, who then walked us around and did a short briefing about the event.  Unfortunately, I didn't manage to capture a photo with her because, I forgot to bring my camera as we were quite in a hurry! What a bummer, right??!  With or without camera, as what had Sukie pointed out to me: "no worry, we've got a lot of photographers here. They are more than happy and ever ready to take pictures"

Being that quite 'camwhore' person , I dragged Dena away to those waiting photographers for a lenses and flashes firing session! LOL, I've gotta tell you that for a moment, I really felt like a Hollywood Darling. Poser, poser, poser...and someone handed me a Hennessy V.S.O.P  bottle as a prop. Click..Click..Click and there I was with Dena giving our most photogenic pose to those trigger-happy Nikon DSLR totting guys! Hmmm..might I dare hope that one of those photogs will stumble upon my blog and give me a link, where I could possibly view my pictures? tsk..tsk..fat chance on that methinks :(

Hollywood Darling aside, I personally had fun at the mixing counter! We've got to mix our own drink the proper way and got a little pamphlet for the mixing recipe as a token, isn't that cool? My mix? I went for citrus (delicious!) and apple for Dena :)  It's free flow from 9.00pm til 11.00pm and crowds were already jam-packed, piling in steadily towards midnight.  The pumping mish mash of musics by the guest DJs (I have to say, HOT DJs) did live up to its promo's expectation.  Looking down from the loft to the dance floor downstairs, yooowzeerrr! What a scene, beautiful people were grooving, it almost painful to watch! LOL, a good variant of pains hehehehe...  Lordy, White Room sure does have the hottest and beautiful patygoers in town. I am not exaggerating! Don't believe me? Try White Room and you'll know what I meant *wink wink*

Overall, I believe that the event was a huge success! Kudos to the organizer for their hard works, it's totally paid off!  I believe, you had made us KKians, left for home with happy smiles plastered on our faces that night.  Hope to have more cool events in the near future though... and yes, yooohooo..people over yonder, to think that Sabahans are always presumed as living on the tree tops? tsk..tsk..

Below pictures were taken with our pitiful camera phone.  Sorry for the low quality pictures, I forgot my camera remember? :-(

silver black and purple, that was yours truly's theme for the night :-)
